The Sweetness At The Bottom Of The Pie

By Alan Bradley

At a crumbling aristocratic manor house where the de Luce family has resided for 500 years, eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce stumbles upon a murder in the cucumber patch and discovers her true calling: sleuth. Quite adult, ruthlessly intelligent, obsessed with chemistry (particularly poisons), Flavia is determined to figure out how the dead body got that way. But when her father confesses to the murder, Flavia must turn every trick in the detective manual to save him, keeping two steps ahead of the local constabulary, and one step ahead of the murderer, who now has an eye on her.

Starring Martin Freeman, Jonathan Pryce, Toby Jones, Meera Syal and Isla Gie. Susan Coyne is writing the feature adaptation.  Bharat Nalluri will direct.

“Utterly charming! Eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce proves to be one of the most precocious, resourceful and...well—just plain dangerous—heroines around.”
