The Reformatory

By Tananarive Due

When 12-year-old Robert Stephens is sentenced to six months at the notorious Gracetown School for Boys in 1950s Jim Crow Florida, he learns that the ghosts at the Reformatory are less horrific than the living, especially the sociopathic warden. Outside, his 16-year-old sister Gloria confronts barriers in her desperate efforts to free him through legal channels, finally deciding she will help him break out instead. Inside, Robert's uneasy friendship with a “haint” (ghost) will lead him on the most frightening adventure of his life.

Tananarive Due and her writing partner Steven Barnes will adapt for television.
